On recent trip with my Family

On a recent trip with my family, I came across a flower I hadn’t seen before. At first glance, it looked like a cluster of tightly packed buds...and none of them had bloomed. Curious, I leaned in and did a little digging.

Turns out, it was the Indian Head Ginger, also known as Costus woodsia. The more I read, the more fascinated I became. This plant, with its quiet spiral form, carries powerful lessons not just about growth, but about leadership and life itself.

Here’s what it taught me:

** Growth isn’t linear – This plant grows in spirals; slow, deliberate, and intentional. And maybe that’s a reminder for us too. As one quote goes, “Progress, not perfection.” Growth doesn't always need to be fast. It needs to be real.

** Resilience is renewal - You can cut it down, and it grows back. A gentle nudge from nature: “Setbacks aren’t endings; they’re invitations to begin again.”

** There’s more to value than meets the eye- Yes, it's beautiful. But it also supports biodiversity and is used in traditional healing. Much like people, our quiet contributions at work and at home often go unseen, but they matter.

Leadership, personal growth, resilience… sometimes nature is the most powerful coach.
Have you ever found inspiration in a plant or tree? I’d love to know about your favorite plant-teacher?
